When it comes to setting up any new business, there is a lot of work to do, especially if you have never done anything like this before. Ultimately, there is only so much that google research can give you before everything starts to become a little confusing. If you are doing this on your own, the process can begin to feel daunting and the last thing we want is for someone with a viable business idea, to give up because they didn’t have any support.

The most important thing to know is, you don’t have to do everything on your own. We are all in this to help other people, but in order to provide this service for others we need to get over the fear of asking for help ourselves first.

If you are beginning to feel a little lost (we all do, don’t worry) it is a great idea to talk to other social entrepreneurs who have been through exactly the same process and know what you are going through. As a sector, you will find that we are all very supportive of one another. You will be surprised by how many people are willing to offer their support whether that be through a thirty minute phone call or some sort of grant.

Have a look for organisations near you that dedicate themselves to supporting social enterprises. Many organisations offer monetary support, free business advice and financial advice. Here in Yorkshire there is the School for Social Entrepreneurs Yorkshire and North East, UnLTD, Social Enterprise Yorkshire and Humber (SEYH) and of course ourselves at Agency For Good. We work in multiple capacities to help social enterprises like your own with branding, marketing and communications.

It all starts to feel a little more manageable when you reach out to similar organisations and create a support network filled with people that share similar goals and aspirations.

Agency For Good are an ethical marketing agency.

We provide completely free marketing consultancy, coaching and training to 3rd sector organisations to help you focus and improve your income and in turn your social impact.
