About SGMT – Charity Website Design Case Study

Features of the site

The Samuel Gardner Memorial Trust was established in April 1970 following a bequest from Arthur Gardner, who wished the Trust to be named in honor of his father, Samuel Gardner, a prominent landowner and benefactor in the Harrow on the Hill area. The Trust was created with the purpose of supporting causes that aligned with Samuel Gardner’s legacy, particularly in the fields of music, education, and the arts.

The Trust’s primary objective is to use its income to advance music and musical education. Its focus is on supporting high-quality music education projects that leave a lasting legacy, with an emphasis on learning, participation, music in healthcare, youth musical development, and inclusiveness. In addition, the Trust also considers applications related to arts and heritage, and as a secondary interest, it offers support for initiatives that contribute to the preservation of the natural environment.

The Trust approached Agency For Good to update its current website, which has been in place for over a decade and was outdated.  Additionally, they wanted to feature a new section showcasing the organisations and projects supported by SGMT.

We worked with the Trust to transfer all existing content to the new site, along with hosting, domain name management, and ongoing technical support. The Trust wanted to independently update the website.

The Impact

The new website is helping SGMT present a vibrant, welcoming identity, streamline its grant-making through online applications, better showcase its impact, and strengthen engagement with its community — all of which has been met with overwhelmingly positive feedback since launch.

What They Said

“The Samuel Gardner Memorial Trust is a small, grant giving charity that supports organisations working in music and the arts. Each year it gives away around £60,000 to music education projects involving learning and participation, music in healthcare, young people’s musical development, and inclusiveness.

When we approached Agency for Good, our brand and website had been in place for well over a decade and was showing its age. We worked with the AFG team to create a new visual identity that is vibrant, welcoming and sits well alongside the organisations we support. The AFG team quickly understood what we were trying to achieve and created a colour palette and logo with instant impact.

The new website is also a big step forward for us as it includes new features such as an online application form, an area to showcase our work through case studies, and a news page. Since launch, the new brand and website have been incredibly well received by our community. We’ve had nothing but positive comments and are delighted with the end result.”
