The Samuel Gardner Memorial Trust was established in April 1970 following a bequest from Arthur Gardner, who wished the Trust to be named in honour of his father, Samuel Gardner, a prominent landowner and benefactor in the Harrow on the Hill area. The Trust was created with the purpose of supporting causes that aligned with Samuel Gardner’s legacy, particularly in the fields of music, education, and the arts.
The Trust’s primary objective is to use its income to advance music and musical education. Its focus is on supporting high-quality music education projects that leave a lasting legacy, with an emphasis on learning, participation, music in healthcare, youth musical development, and inclusiveness. In addition, the Trust also considers applications related to arts and heritage, and as a secondary interest, it offers support for initiatives that contribute to the preservation of the natural environment.
