Established in March 2016 in response to the safeguarding crisis in Calais, SWWB focuses on direct intervention. They’ve supported over 40 unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and expanded to work in the UK, providing assessments in cases of detention or deportation. As a voluntary organisation, they seek volunteers and donations.
SWWB, recognising their influential role in the social work profession, advocates for excellent practices with asylum seekers. They engage in campaigns, supporting existing ones and launching initiatives like addressing social work provision for families with No Recourse to Public Funds. The organisation also emphasises continuous learning and skill-sharing through training and providing a platform for those with experiential wisdom of the asylum process.
